Okay I know this is a small picture...
Im not sure why I picked up this book. Yes I do know, it's because Mrs Polifax goes to Sicily. Sounded intriguing. I am drawn to this series because the protagonist, Mrs. Pollifax is an older woman rather like Miss Marple in Agatha's books and depends on who she is to get herself out of her situations. She is pretty well developed as a character and I like the fact that you can understand her point of view clearly. She acts on what she is rather than disconcerting the reader by acting contrary to her nature ( a pet peeve of mine...did you guess? heh)
The wierd thing about these books is that they are like eating a cookie. Small not too much fat not too many calories. The writer Dorothy Gillman, she does a pretty good job keeping her main group of characters pretty tight; only introducing a manageable handful to populate her story. I read the Pollifax books every few years or so...I have to go back and get the Safari one where she meets Cyrus.
I know, Im a hopeless romantic. Gotta fix that!
