I come to this journal seeing it left as it was before my wanderings. I come back, and lovingly dust it off and sweep the cobwebs off its eaves. A long time to wander, yes I know...my reasons unheard of until it happened...my interest in writing here dried up as did my interest in books for awhile. Strange thing to say, that. But true. I read as needed, with little inclination to follow my own muses or interests... content to read for work.
Lately though I found myself reading again...books that capture my attention and find their way in my bookbag to go home with me, to be read like contraband, among the required books on my reading list.
Too, there are books on my reading list that are capturing me...capturing my interest. That old lick of desire that I follow wherever it may lead.
A friend of mine stumbled upon my blog a few weeks ago, and mentioned it to me, noting at the time that it looked like it had been some time since I'd written here. I felt defensive, sort of wanting to defend its existence, though it appeared abandoned.
Not so...Ive been reluctant because I had nothing I wanted to say. I felt the lack of it as keenly as a friend waiting out in the yard, silently disappointed at my neglect. Yet, waiting patiently for my return...for my attention.
Knowing somehow that I would come back.
