A book of haunting poetry.
Literally
At first it reminded me of Spoon River Anthology, but as I read into it, I realized that it was a continuing stream of consciousness from one and then two ghosts, rather than random people that were tied to one place such as in Spoon River, Illinois.
I loved this book even though it was terrible. Terrible in the old way, in the way the word was meant to be used.
A terrible crime has been committed to a girl named Cassie, who is sixteen, and an equally terrible crime has been uncovered; a girl that was murdered many years ago, her and her unborn child
Such loss and all the sadness that Cassie's death entails, is dealt with deftly by the author, who writes in verse within the subdued shadow of the girls voice. Its as if even her feelings are ephemeral...a langorous sadness that blunts the grief of those left behind. A very good book.
